An excerpt from the Historic Touring Cars of N.S.W. Race Report
….. For Group Nb Ford Mustangs dominated:
• Jamie Tilley – Ford Mustang – 02:30.840
• Graeme Woolhouse – Ford Mustang – 02:40.665
• Greg Toepfer – Ford Mustang – 02:42.982.
Elliot Barber posted an impressive 02:36.259 in his Holden Torana GTR XU1, Quentin Bland a 02:38.887 in his Ford Capri, and Jason Humble (Mazda RX-2) a 02:42.476 – he may well have been quicker had he not experienced some solenoid issues on his starter motor. Danny Myers achieved a 02:47.488 in his Holden HQ.
Other practice times to note were:
• Andrew Bergan – Morris Cooper S – 02:47.804
• Shane Cowham – Holden HD X2 – 02:53.226
• Lachlan Thomas – Ford Escort Mk1 – 02:54.976
• Andrew White – Volvo 122S – 03:07.496
• Simon Browning – Ford Cortina Mk1 – 03:22.697
….. The variation in vehicle makes made a great spectacle. Simon Browning’s Ford Cortina Mk1, Shane Cowham’s, Holden HD X2, Andrew White’s Volvo 122S and Andrew Bergan’s Morris Cooper S were standouts, as they were all presented in beautiful form and revived great memories of the historic touring car era.
